The Portland Oregonian was Oregon's largest newspaper and, like many newspapers across the US, saw radio as both an opportunity and a threat. Like other newspapers, the Oregonian covered its bases by starting its own station, KGW, and being a proud newspapser, the Oregonian was determined that KGW would operate with the highest quality equipment and programming.
