About a year after founding the Sunshine Division the Hoot Owls launched their Rainbow Division which secured donations of radios and associated parts which KGW technicians the installed in nursing homes, hospitals and other locations in which residents were housebound. One such installation was at Doernbacher Childrens' Hospital (pictured above).
In addition to soliciting public contributions for both the Sunshine and Rainbow Divisions, the Hoot Owls own undertakings were also designed to add funds for those efforts. Sales proceeds from the Hoot Owls Classic pamphlets and printed copies of the Midnight Ode were donated to those charities. A local jeweler created Hoot Owl pins (in gold and silver) which were also sold to benefit these charitable endeavors.
